LES ATELIERS DU MINARET – 3 RUE MICHELET, ALGIERS – COMPANY FOUNDED BY RENÉ (AND PIERRE) FAMIN - A MODEL COMMONLY ATTRIBUTED TO FRANCIS JOURDAIN (1876–1958) ‘Untitled’, a design created around [1931–1933], attributed to Henry Caillet (1897–1958) A set of three so-called ‘colonial’ armchairs, designed in the functionalist style. The frames are made of cedar wood, (re)lacquered in ivory. The seats and backs are strung with fine plant-fibre cord. 1930s–1950s. H_84 cm W_63 cm D_77 cm, shows signs of wear; damage and missing sections in the cordage; chips and flaking on the non-original ivory-coloured lacquer.
