Alphabet sampler On cotton muslin with coloured cotton threads. Square in shape, featuring the alphabet and the numbers 1 to 10. In the centre, various embroidered motifs, such as a cross on a stepped mound accompanied by a cherub, numerous potted plants and a rabbit. The border is highlighted by a wavy line dotted with little blue flowers. Bears the name ‘Anete Keenan, aged 7’ at the bottom. Framed in pitchpine. Late 19th or early 20th century H. 37 cm - W. 38.5 cm Water stains and soiling; colours slightly faded. Frame refitted.
