Description
Hunting horn
Made from carved and engraved cattle horn. Decorated with a scene of a hound hunt, depicting a stag escaping from a hunter on horseback, blowing the horn and accompanied by his three hounds. The scene is set within a sort of speech bubble winding around the horn. The upper part features a smooth, scalloped border, with two bands adorned with striations. The mouthpiece is shaped like a wild boar’s head, with an open snout, and is finished with a sort of skirt. A metal suspension ring completes the piece.
