Important dish (extremely rare) Made of pewter and decorated with a scene depicting a procession of penitent monks in front of the church of Les Voirons. God the Father presides over the scene, surrounded by a cloud. Diameter 39 cm Switzerland?, 18th century According to the accompanying documentation: according to the former parish priest of Abondance, this scene commemorates the destruction of Les Voirons Abbey (near Boëge) by fire in 1768. In the background of the main scene, one can see the towns of Geneva, Evian, Thonon, and Lake Geneva. The coat of arms is believed to be that of Mr de Sales, the abbot of the abbey, who later became Bishop of Geneva. Price: very good. EXPERT ASSESSMENT REQUIRED
