Plan de Paris commencé l'année 1734, folding double-page index map, and 20 map sheets by Claude Lucas after Louis Bretez, plates 18/19 with large cartouche are joined and folded, faint toning, contemporary armorial marbled calf gilt with the coat of arms of the city of Paris, gilt borders and spine compartments with fleurs-de-lis, g.e., lower hinges starting, extremities of spine rubbed, light wear [Brunet I, 1224], folio (555 x 450mm.), Paris, 1739
A magnificent detailed bird's-eye view of the whole of Paris, prepared between 1734 and 1739. The 20 sheets form a single enormous plan (approximately 3200 x 2500 mm if joined) with a decorative border and enough detail to still be of use to researchers into the pre-Haussman architecture of Paris.
