'Head of the Apostle'
Sandstone sculpture.
16 x 9 x 9 cm.
As we read in the encyclopaedia of the Romanesque in Galicia, in the file of Professor Gerardo Boto Varela: 2this sculpture of a head wears a completely continuous wavy hairstyle along the entire spherical perimeter without a parting. It has unusual, slanting eyes with the iris marked by a slit and slight incision in the tear duct, profiled eyelids, high and very fine superciliary arches, a small, straight nose, rounded cheekbones, full and fleshy lips, moustache and beard with long locks, frontal gaze and an apathetic expression.'
