Royal Coins – Charles IX (1560–1574) – Set of 2 x Teston, 2nd type, featuring two crowned Cs from Bordeaux, K and a ship on a crescent: MDLXII (1562) ‘K’ and a ship on both the obverse and reverse; on the obverse, the ‘M’ differs from that of the Master of the Mint, Jean Robert Martin Malus, and the ‘H’ differs from that of the Engraver, Jérôme Dies (silver, 9.37 g) Very Fine+ to Very Fine (Rare variety, Gadoury 429) and MDLXVIIII (1569) K on the reverse and a ship on the obverse, without the Master’s mark but with three dots beneath the bust – possibly the mark of the workshop guards – and with two facing crescents, the mark of the engraver Domingue du Hariet, on both the obverse and reverse (silver, 9.25 g) Very Fine+ (Rare, Gadoury 429)
