Description
A processional cross consisting of a cut-out plate, engraved on one side with a depiction of the Virgin and Child and a saint, and on the reverse with an inscription in the Ge’ez language. It was attached to the end of a pole by a cylindrical socket and was carried during processions by Coptic Christian priests. Copper. Dimensions: 38 x 18 cm. Ethiopia. Eastern Orthodox Church. 19th/20th century.
