A cross formed from a cut-out plate adorned with geometric motifs symbolising Christ’s victory over death. It was attached to the end of a pole by a socket-type fitting with a cylindrical cross-section and was carried during processions by Coptic Christian priests. Brass. Dimensions: 36 x 25 cm. Ethiopia. Eastern Orthodox Church. 19th/20th century.
