Description
Small pavilion for the Lyon Universal Exhibition in 1894, in carved oak, terracotta panels, glazed tiles and zinc.
Square in cross-section, it is decorated with terracotta panels from the Manufacture de Bourgogne in Montchanin and dated 1894.
This gazebo was exhibited at the Universal and Colonial Exhibition in Lyon in 1894.
Open and topped with a bulbous roof at the time of the exhibition, it was closed at the beginning of the 20th century by 4 curved panels and doors fitted with coloured glass panes and then topped with a square 8-sided roof.
Height: 6 m
W: 5 m outside and 3.70 m inside.
Parts of the lintels are damaged.
It stands on a concrete base and is held in place by screws.
On 21 June 1894, during his visit to the Lyon Universal Exhibition, President Sadi Carnot was assassinated by an Italian anarchist.
