François-Léon SICARD (1862–1934), ‘Bust of Aristide Douarche (1850–1916)’, bust carved from Carrara marble, signed on the pedestal, created in 1915–1916.
H: 70 cm, W: 75 cm, D: 35 cm.
On a bespoke oak plinth, H: 108 cm.
Aristide Douarche, Doctor of Laws and Officer of the Legion of Honour, held the following positions:
- Barrister at the Paris Court of Appeal in 1872
- Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Bourges Court of Appeal in 1880
- Advocate General at the Bourges Court in 1881
- President of a Chamber at the Court of Agen in 1883
- Doctor of Letters in Paris in 1889 with his thesis on ‘The University
of Paris and the Jesuits (16th and 17th centuries)’
- Judge at the Paris Court of Appeal in 1890
- First President of the Caen Court of Appeal in 1896
- Judge at the Court of Cassation until the end of his career
He also served as a General Councillor for the canton of Coursan (Aude) for 28 years (from 1883), as secretary, vice-president for 10 years and president of the Aude General Council for 4 years
