A mahogany and mahogany-veneered cylinder desk resting on four fluted legs. It features three drawers in the upper section, a flap revealing drawers and a leather-covered top, and five drawers in the lower section. White marble top. Scratches and minor imperfections. Late 18th–early 19th century. H: 109 cm, W: 95 cm, D: 48 cm Provenance: the collection of Pierre BOUDOT (1930–1988). Pierre BOUDOT was a writer, a philosopher specialising in Nietzsche, an essayist, a literary commentator on Radio France, a lecturer in philosophy at the Sorbonne, and a friend of, amongst others, Olivier Debré, Pierre Degottex, Marcelle Berr de Turquie, Pierre Rouge and Bernard Rousset.
