CHINA – c. 1900: a set comprising six cups, four saucers and one plate, in porcelain, decorated with polychrome millefleurs enamels on a black ground, with a low-relief chiselled silver mark. Also included are six saucers with a different design featuring birds perched on branches. Apocryphal Guangxu mark on four cups and ten saucers. Apocryphal Qianlong mark beneath the other pieces. Chips on one saucer and one cup. Provenance: - acquired in Hanoi around 1945 by Léon and Lucienne BIDAULT, who had been living in Indochina since the 1930s, resided in Hanoi and returned to France in 1953 or 1954. - passed down through the family to the current owner
