Born in Senegal in 1977 to a Serer father and a Fulani mother, Omar Ba began his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dakar, graduating in 2002. The following year, he joined the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. Twenty years after his arrival in Europe, Omar Ba continues to share his life between the two continents, developing a universalism nourished by a variety of cultures. His work draws on his African heritage, the lessons he has learned from his eclectic career, and his reflections on the issues facing the contemporary world.
Closely related to the works presented as part of the Anomalies exhibition, unveiled at the Galerie Templon in Brussels in 2021, Genèse 1-nature questions the imbalances of the contemporary world. The figure of a child, caught in a dense network of maps and connections, becomes the metaphor of a youth confronted with the current political and environmental complexity. Produced in the context of the pandemic, the composition reveals repetitive flashes of viral propagation, revealing the fragility of our democracies and our ideals of individual freedom.
In the landscape of contemporary painting, Omar Ba stands out for his inimitable work. At the crossroads of the two Dakar schools, he is now a major international artist, as evidenced by his inclusion in the collections of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the solo exhibition organised for the opening of the Templon Gallery in New York in 2022.

In the world of contemporary painting, Omar Ba stands out for his inimitable body of work. As a bridge between the two Dakar Schools, he is now a leading international artist whose work is featured in the collections of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and was the subject of a solo exhibition held for the opening of Galerie Templon in New York in 2022.
