Bibliography: Kriki, monographie rétrospective, oeuvres de 1984 à 2006, Editions Snoeck, Gand, 2007, reproduced pp.164-165 FR Founder in 1984 of the painters' group Nuklé-Art and the electro-punk band Les Envahisseurs, Kriki is the embodiment of punk culture in French contemporary art. With the street and the underground as his art school, he was involved in the emergence of what is now known as Street Art from 1984 onwards. Right from the start, Kriki was identified as one of the emblematic figures of French painting in the 80s. Kriki's style was immediately recognisable on the international scene, making him one of the leading artists of his generation. In 1985 Kriki invented the Fuzz, an imaginary character, half robot, half polymorphous fetish around which the artist invented an entire universe. His name, the Fuzz, is a reference to the Cramps' album Psychedelic jungle. Kriki now uses his Fuzz in a variety of media: painting, sculpture and photography. In the series from which the painting on display originates, he takes iconic paintings from the history of painting - Fragonard, Boucher, Rubens.... - and reinterprets them through the figure of Fuzz. AT As the founder, in 1984, of the Nuklé-Art painting collective and the electro-punk band Les Envahisseurs, Kriki embodies punk culture in contemporary French art. With the streets and the metro as his art school, he participated, starting in 1984, in the emergence of what is now known as Street Art. From the very beginning, Kriki was recognised as one of the iconic figures of French painting in the 1980s. Kriki established an immediately recognizable style on the international scene, making him one of the major artists of his generation. In 1985, Kriki created Fuzz, an imaginary character-half-robot, half-polymorphic fetish-around whom the artist built an entire universe. The name "Fuzz" is a reference to the Cramps' album *Psychedelic Jungle*. Today, Kriki explores his Fuzz character across various media: painting, sculpture, and photography. Thus, in the series from which the presented painting is taken, he reimagines iconic works from the history of painting-by Fragonard, Boucher, Rubens, and others-reinterpreting them through the figure of Fuzz.
