Description
Silver Surfer: The Graphic Novel Marvel Comics / Fireside Books, 1978 Jack Kirby (1917–1994) and Joe Sinnott (1926–2020) Indian ink on Bristol board. Galactus’s ship approaching a planet. Jack Kirby, co-creator of the Fantastic Four, Thor and Captain America, revisited the Silver Surfer in 1978, a character he had conceived in 1966. The inking is by Joe Sinnott, his long-standing partner, whose precision brings out the best in Kirby’s artwork. This page encapsulates what makes Kirby’s cosmic tales so unique: Galactus’s ship, the famous ‘Kirby dots’ that bring space to life, and a close-up of Galactus projecting a mental probe towards Earth through his eyes. This volume marks the final collaboration between Stan Lee and Jack Kirby on the Silver Surfer. Kirby’s artwork dedicated to the character of the Silver Surfer is becoming increasingly rare. Editor’s notes.
