Description
Moebius, promotional illustration for Herbie Pizza Moebius (1938–2012), signed in the bottom right-hand corner Ink and spot colours on paper. Green, antennaed aliens sitting in a cinema, facing a screen. In the front row, one of them is wearing a Herbie Pizza T-shirt, a pizzeria in Los Angeles. Jean Giraud signed his work as ‘Gir’ for *Blueberry* and reserved the name ‘Moebius’ for science fiction and his more personal stories. He also accepted commissions for advertising, as in this case, without compromising his sense of humour. An exceptional drawing in terms of both size and quality: Moebius’s large-format works are extremely rare. 49.7 x 37.5 cm
