Lyon, Gryphe, 1538; Comprising 4 parts in one volume. in-8°, full brown calfskin, gilt fillet framing arabesques on the covers, motto on the upper cover with the owner’s name and the date: “Ie. Vis. En. Esperence. Jehan Christofle Vélin, M.D.XLI.”. The decoration is repeated on the lower cover with the motto “Iendure. Pour. Parvenir.” and the date repeated. Corner fleurons. Contemporary binding. (The spine has been re-bound in modern times). An extremely rare and high-quality edition, it constitutes a complete collection of the poet’s works. Each title page is illustrated with the poet’s printed motto ‘La mort n’y mord’. The titles are printed in round letters, but the entire text is in small Gothic type.
