In-4°, pale calfskin, triple gilt fillet and small gilt corner fleurons, central medallion stamped on the covers, richly decorated ribbed spine, gilt edges. Binding from the 1830s. A fine copy in a fresh and decorative Romantic binding of the third edition (and fifth printing) of this famous treatise on demonology by Jean Bodin, the author of the renowned *The Republic* (1576). It is a fierce indictment and an organised witch-hunt, advocating the use of denunciation in particular. Dorbon, no. 387.
