Description
Blancpain, Fifty Fathoms, round automatic watch Black dial, white luminescent hands, luminescent hour markers, central seconds hand, bidirectional rotating bezel, steel, 42 mm diameter, in its box. Unveiled in 1954 at the Basel Fair, this watch quickly became a benchmark in diving watchmaking. It was developed at the request of the French Combat Swimmers Corps, under the direction of Robert Maloubier, to meet the demands of underwater operations. Its reputation was further cemented by its appearance on the wrists of the divers in Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s crew in the film *The Silent World*, helping to establish this model as a true icon of diving watches.
