Astronomical clock with rotating mechanism, 19th century
Brass case, egloised glass dome, brass hands, painted Roman numeral hour markers. The clock is decorated with bronze medallions with a brown patina, featuring motifs of lion’s heads and foliage. Mechanism enabling the moon to rotate around a disc representing the Earth and indicating the phases of the moon. Hour hand rotating clockwise and minute hand rotating anti-clockwise. H 43 cm. Provenance: a Neuchâtel collection assembled between 1980 and 2010.
