Description
Rectangular EMBROIDERY BOX made of sandalwood. The box, featuring rich geometric decoration known as ‘Sadeli’, is made of bone, stained wood and pewter. Opens via a stepped lid on hinges. The interior is divided into seven compartments, each with a marquetry-decorated lid. The lid is fitted with a mirror in a marquetry-framed setting. Removable side handles. The whole rests on claw feet. Comes with a key.
Anglo-Indian work (probably Bombay), 19th century.
