GRANDVILLE, Jean-Jacques. One Hundred Proverbs. Text by *Trois têtes dans un bonnet*. New edition, revised and expanded for the text by M. Quitard. Paris, Garnier, (1850), small in-4, 51 colour plates. Contemporary black half-shagreen binding, decorated ribbed spine, gilt edges. The volume is illustrated with a frontispiece and 50 colour plates (H.T.), numerous wood-engraved illustrations in the text, end-piece illustrations, and vignettes on the title page and half-title page. On the half-title page, the vignette depicting three heads beneath a cap represents the four authors: Daurand-Forgues, T. Delord, A. Fremy and A. Achard. Carteret III-282 for the first edition of 1845. A collection of 50 proverbs with accompanying texts and 50 proverbs illustrated.
