New edition, revised, corrected and expanded with intaglio engravings and a table of contents. Neuchâtel and Paris: Duchesne, 1764. 4 volumes, in-8. Contemporary marbled full calf binding, smooth spine decorated with panels of gilded fleurons, title and volume number labels in red and green morocco, gilded lace framing the covers, ornate and gilded edges, speckled edges. Ex libris: Nicole Casanova and Manonni.
Third edition, illustrated with a frontispiece by Cochin, engraved by Longueil, and 12 plates engraved in intaglio after Gravelot, engraved by Flipart, Longueil, Lemire…
The publication of *La Nouvelle Héloïse* is, like most of Rousseau’s first editions, a veritable bibliographical maze. This is the third edition, revised by Rousseau and partly in the original form, a counterfeit of the second original edition.
