A sketchbook and collection of drawings, possibly by Mary-Ann Birch, also known as Elisa de Lamartine (1790–1863), wife of Alphonse de Lamartine. A collection comprising approximately 35 pencil sketches, ink washes and watercolours, and an engraving depicting landscapes and views of castles, some titled ‘Bellevue’, ‘Monceaux’, ‘Château de Saint Point’, ‘Abbaye de Cluny’, ‘La Grande Chartreuse de Grenoble’, etc. Produced in the 1830s. Bookplate of Charles Edouard, architect. Dimensions: approx. 18.5 x 23.5 cm per sheet. Pinholes, damaged mount, minor signs of wear.
