LAMARTINE (Alphonse de, 1790–1868). A small album containing three engraved portraits of Alphonse de Lamartine (after Martial, Julien, Delpech) with a handwritten note by Madame de Lamartine (or by Lamartine himself?) on letterhead bearing the embossed initials ‘A.L.’ surmounted by a count’s crown, addressed to Monsieur Amédée FONTAN (de Luchon), 5 Place des Italiens, Paris, with postmarks (1841?): “I regret every day that I see so little of you, Monsieur… would you do us the pleasure of dining with us on Thursday, so that we may be assured of the pleasure of spending a few hours in your company…” Attached is a printed copy of Lamartine’s poem *Les Oiseaux*.
