Description
A large Boulle clock, richly decorated with inlays of brass fillets, masks and figures, dial with enamelled Roman numerals, movement signed ‘Etienne Lenoir Le Fils Paris’, dating from the period (1743–1750) when Pierre-Etienne Lenoir established himself. Having qualified as a master watchmaker in 1743, he used this signature to distinguish himself before officially going into partnership with his father, Etienne II, on 11 October 1750. Missing parts and damage, notably a side glass pane, and the top figure of Cupid has come loose and needs reattaching. – total height: 67 cm.
