Description
Historical book of the period: ‘384th Bomb Group’ – 8th Air Force "As Briefed: A Family History of the 384th Bombardment Group" by Walter E. Owens (an intelligence officer with the 384th BG) is the definitive historical work on the 384th Bomb Group, which was equipped with B-17 Flying Fortresses. This is a copy of the first edition. This book, comprising approximately 200 pages, was printed in the United States in 1946 by the renowned publishing house Newsfoto Publishing Co., based in San Angelo, Texas, which specialised in publishing this type of work for veterans and their families. The cover is adorned with the insignia of the 384th Bomb Group and the insignia of the four squadrons it comprised. There are fewer photographs compared with the book on the 401st Bomb Group, as the emphasis here is on the narrative. This book brings together several anecdotes relating to the unit’s operations. A rare book in its first edition. Approximately 200 pages. In English. (Grégory Pons Collection)
