Description
Historical book from the period, ‘Target Germany’ – 8th Air Force This is the first edition from 1943 with a hardback cover (a paperback version also exists), published by Simon & Schuster in New York. This book is devoted to the early operations of the 8th Air Force, notably the raids on U-boat bases along the Atlantic coast and the famous raid on the Ploiești refineries in Romania. Published during the war, this book is a valuable account of the early days of the 8th Air Force, although, as a work intended for the general public, it takes an enthusiastic view of the results of the operations, which were only truly appreciated after Germany’s surrender.
