Description
A series of three volumes: ‘The Great Pacific Air Offensive of World War II Series’ – USAAF – USN – USMC
This series of books, entitled *The Great Pacific Air Offensive of World War II*, written by Jonathan W. Lambert in 2005 and published by Schiffer Publications, is devoted to the air war in the Pacific. It comprises three volumes:
*Return to the Philippines 1944*
"Severing the Empire Lifeline 1945"
"On Japan's Doorstep 1945"
which bring together a large number of photographs unknown to the general public at the time of publication.
It is a primarily visual and photographic study documenting the Allied air offensive against Japanese forces during the final months of the Second World War, tracing how the Allies’ air power succeeded in destroying the Japanese navy, cut off its supply lines and cripple the industrial and military potential of the Japanese archipelago.
This series, of a documentary richness rarely equalled, brings together numerous photographs from official archives as well as private collections belonging to veterans. Most of the photographs, taken in mid-flight, on aircraft carriers or on runways, are accompanied by detailed research to identify the crews, aircraft, dates and units involved.
382 pages in total. Books in English.
