Set of photographs of the 17th Bomb Group (August 1944: Aramon – Tarascon – Levens – Cap Estérel) Set of 11 large-format photographs (20x25cm) bearing markings of the 17th Bomb Group, equipped with B-26 Marauders. These photographs show the bombing of targets in the south of France in the run-up to the D-Day landings in Provence, dated 4, 6, 11 and 15 August 1944: the railway bridge at Levens, German artillery positions at Cap de l’Estérel, the railway bridge at Tarascon and the road bridge at Aramon on the very day of the landings, with the aim of cutting off the German forces’ routes of retreat.
