Description
ZERO identification poster Original poster classified as RESTRICTED, measuring 60.5 x 45.5 cm (modern frame), published by the US Naval Aviation Training Division in February 1943. This date appears beneath the 3D view of the aircraft. The aircraft’s specific identification features are shown using the WEFTUP method, which includes the six main characteristics: Wing, Engine, Fuselage, Tail, Undercarriage and Propeller. The number of stars indicates the level of importance of each characteristic. These posters were displayed in training schools and on the walls of bases in combat zones, particularly in briefing rooms, so that aircrew could familiarise themselves with the silhouettes of Allied or enemy aircraft whilst in flight.
