Confidential Report: 8th Air Force Fighter Operations – 7 March 1944 on operations of 25 February 1944 A rare report from the USAAF intelligence services (A-2) circulated in the United States within the 1st Fighter Command. Eight pages of intelligence detailing the course of operations by the 8th Air Force on 25 February 1944, during one of the major raids of ‘Big Week’, in which the 8th Air Force attacked several strategic targets: Regensburg, Fürth, Stuttgart and Augsburg. The deployment of the fighter units is detailed throughout the day, during which they provided escort for the heavy bomber formations. Particularly interesting events are underlined.
