Description
USAAF Type A-9 Short oxygen mask This oxygen mask is particularly rare as it was superseded during the war by the A-14 model. This example is dated January 1942. The edge of the mask body is cracked and uneven, but otherwise it retains good flexibility. The hose is in perfect condition, and all four straps for attaching the mask to the Type B-6 and A-9 headgear hooks are present. A famous colour photograph shows this mask being worn by a B-17 crew member with the 306th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force in 1943
