Description
Pair of USAAF Type B-3A flying gloves Type B-3A leather fighter pilot’s flying gloves. Clearly marked ‘ARMY AIR FORCES’, US size 9, dated 1944 in the contract number. The colour is uneven, but they can be re-coloured with shoe polish; these are a rare item that is relatively sought-after by collectors, as they were often used after the war for motor sports. The B-3A model continued to be produced for many years after the war and was used during the Vietnam War, but in a darker colour with US Air Force markings rather than Army Air Forces (the name used for the US Air Force until 1947). Sun-faded patches.
