Description
USAAF Type H-1 portable oxygen cylinder Type H-1 portable emergency oxygen cylinder (early war period), complete with its carrying case for attachment to a parachute harness or thigh, pressure gauge, hose and mouthpiece. It served as an emergency oxygen supply for fighter pilots or bomber crews during high-altitude parachute jumps to prevent loss of consciousness. This item has become rare to find in complete condition, as the hose is often cut, or the specific mouthpiece is missing.
