Description
Type A-4 green canvas flight overalls with zip (size 40) Late-production Type A-4 flight suit, made from green woollen gabardine in size 40. The suit features a belt with a buckle, four belt loops, a main zip and four additional zips for fastening at the wrists and ankles. All zips are protected by a sewn-on flap secured with press studs. Two side slit pockets provide access to the trouser pockets underneath. War-time production models have only two open pockets on the right-hand side, one slanted across the chest and one below the knee. In 1943, these two pockets were fitted with zips, as airmen complained of losing their contents during aerial combat or parachute jumps. Example in excellent condition. (Mathieu Bianchi Collection)
