Description
Type III Waterproof Aeronautical First Aid Kit (97770)
Aeronautical First-Aid Kits designed to provide emergency care in flight or in the event of a forced landing. They are secured in the cabin at a ratio of one kit for every two crew members or one kit for each isolated position: ventral or tail gunner. In fighter aircraft, it is secured behind the pilot’s seat. The kits are sealed and remain the responsibility of the pilot, who must hand them over to the base medical officer upon return from a mission for inspection. There are four successive models, all made from heavy Olive Drab Shade No. 3 cotton canvas or vinyl, fitted with a zip fastening and four female press studs, making them easily removable. The item on offer is Type III, adopted in October 1942 (Spec. No. 1631), featuring a horizontal fastening. It contains the original contents:
