Canetille embroidery on a blue felt background: Combat Flying Duty Patch indicating assignment to a combat unit. Ranks and collar insignia embroidered in canetille. Decoration bars for the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, American Campaign Medal, European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two campaign stars and an arrowhead on the ribbon indicating participation in an amphibious landing or airborne assault. 8th Air Force shoulder badge embroidered in canetille, with short wings known as ‘Stubby Wings’.
