Venus giving her arms to Aeneas, Europe, circa 1750
Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in the English style, and painted of Venus offering her weapons to Aeneas who is kneeling. Lovers assist him, playing with his armour, helmet and shield. The reverse is painted with a flute player and a singer in a rural setting.
A beautiful finely beaded, carved, engraved and gilded white mother-of-pearl mount decorated with lovers and shepherds framing bust portraits of a man crowned with laurels and a lady of quality. In the centre, a shepherd offers his heart to a shepherdess (freckles).
