Description
Louise GUYOT (active c. 1840–1850) Portrait of Raymond Jean François Marie LACAVE-LAPLAGNE-BARRIS (1786–1857) Oil on canvas, signed and dated ‘1850’ in the lower right-hand corner. H. 132 cm – W. 102 cm Small holes, wear and crazing. Composition slightly enlarged on the left. The inscriptions in the upper part are probably later additions. The canvas and frame are stencilled with the name of the paint merchant ‘Ricois’ in Paris. Pair of France, President of the Court of Cassation, senator and president of the Gers General Council. Administrator of the Duke of Aumale’s estates from 1842. He was a loyal friend of the House of Orléans and executor of the will of Louis-Philippe I.
