In-4 (28 x 22 cm), paperback, padded cover, vignette pasted onto the upper cover. 312 pp. A deluxe edition of this beautiful Hindu novel, originally written in Tamil and adapted by Félicien Champsaur, illustrated by the Italian painter Fabius Lorenzi (1880–1964) with 26 (out of 28 announced) exquisite full-colour illustrations in the style of Brunelleschi or Dulac. The text is embellished with numerous headbands and tailpieces printed in green, blue and red. Limited edition of 475 copies; this one is one of the 380 numbered copies on Lafuma pure-yarn tinted vellum, bearing the number 198. Uncut copy.
