An 18th-century manuscript comprising 104 leaves written on both sides in attractive italic handwriting. The anonymous author compiled a news journal in Paris covering events that took place between 16 May 1779 and 21 December 1780.
It includes, in particular, articles relating to the naval and military operations of the Prince of Nassau, the British and Dutch navies..., a literary article concerning the publication of a new edition of Voltaire’s complete works, another on the cosmetics trade, and one on Caron de Beaumarchais, who had just written scathing verses or songs about women: “he has just composed a song or some verses about women, in which he is treated very badly...” (extract from the article of 25 June 1780).
The journal is supplemented by the original editions of issues 352, 353, 354, 355, 357, 363, 364, 365, 366 (year 1780) and 101, 102, 103, 104, 107, 112, 113, 114, 118, 175 and 176 (year 1781) of the *Journal de Paris*.
