First edition. A rare work intended for the teaching of Latin, published in Nuremberg in 1736 by the publisher Peter Conrad Monath. The Monath publishing house, which also had a branch in Vienna, published numerous works, mainly scholarly.
In the preface, addressed to headteachers and teachers, the author suggests that a child learning six words a day will master the basics of Latin within a year.
The vocabulary is presented in Latin, German and French, with a plate of illustrations opposite each entry to clarify the corresponding term. In total, there are 1,700 copperplate engravings spread across 71 plates.
A fine copy, with the text and plates in very clean condition.
