An important collection of scores from the late 18th century by the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn (1732–1809).
In total, 47 pages of engraved music comprising 21 Prussian quartets (dedicated to Frederick William II, King of Prussia), including 6 for bass and 15 for cello.
The Quartets Op. 50, also known as the Prussian Quartets, are a cycle of string quartets by Joseph Haydn, written in 1787 and published in the same year simultaneously by Forster in London and by Artaria in Vienna.
The scores are published here by Jean-Georges Sieber, a leading Parisian publisher active between 1770 and 1822, probably at the same time as the London and Viennese editions.
