Mottled edges. Contemporary binding signed ‘Schultes’ at the foot of volume 1. 17 uncollated volumes (complete set). Several corners pierced, scattered foxing. A new collective edition published in Brussels of the complete works of Madame de Staël, published by her son (Auguste-Louis de Staël-Holstein) and preceded by a note on the character and writings of Madame de Staël by Madame Necker de Saussure, her cousin. A beautiful decorative set, complete in 17 volumes, very attractively bound in a delicate Romantic-style binding of the period by Schultes, the King’s bookbinder.
