THEZE, H. A Panorama of the History of France, from Pharamond to the Present Day. Paris, Delaunay, at the Palais Royal, 1829. Folded dimensions: 98 x 64 cm, canvas-mounted chart, cardboard slipcase. A monumental chronological and genealogical chart of the Kings of France, published in 1829. It provides a concise account of French history, from Pharamond to Charles X. For each sovereign, the duration of their reign is given, along with a short biographical note highlighting key events, inventions, discoveries and famous figures associated with the period. Wall charts of French history constitute a distinct genre of printed material: folio-sized, poster-format works that can be very large (up to over one metre in height) and which present, across one or more sheets, a synoptic overview of the entire national past from its origins. A magnificent engraving, enhanced with watercolour and mounted on canvas. In very good condition.
