This collection was compiled by Évaristo Gherardi (1663-1701), an Italian author and playwright who settled in Paris in 1670 and came from a family of actors in the Italian troupe; he began his acting career in 1689 and died murdered in 1701.
Headbands worn, six title-pieces or tomascons missing, partially split jaw on vol. 4, rare spotting mainly affecting the end of vol. 1 and the beginning of vol. 2, otherwise a good copy, complete with attractive plates evoking the stage productions and costumes of the period.
