In-12, brown basane, smooth spine decorated, title page, red edges (contemporary binding). Rubbed, jaws cracked, tail cap torn off, rare foxing. Uncommon. Son of the actor François Juvenon, known as La Fleur, La Thuillerie embarked on a career in comedy at the age of sixteen, in 1666. On 27 April 1672, he married Louise-Catherine, daughter of the actor Raymond Poisson, known as Belleroche. An actor with a sulphurous reputation, he played at the Hôtel de Bourgogne and was a member of the first troupe of the Comédie-Française. The following plays were performed under his name: Crispin précepteur, a one-act comedy in verse (1679); Soliman, a tragedy (1680); Hercule, a tragedy (1681); Crispin bel esprit, a one-act comedy in verse (1681), but these plays were rightly attributed to Abbé Abeille, and the following epitaph was written about La Thuillerie: "Ici gît qui se nommait Jean, / Et croyait avoir fait Hercule et Soliman.
