Description
A large bronze clock with two patinas. The dial displays the hours in Roman numerals against a background of red griotte marble. It is set within an Etruscan-style armchair covered with a lion’s pelt and a cushion, upon which sits a figure in antique style holding a cup and a book, with a helmet to his right. The base, framed by a laurel frieze, is adorned with a cuirass and two griffins on either side. The legs, shaped like lion’s claws, are finished with palmette motifs. Restoration period.
